Great prop! Feb 13, 2010
By Rafael M. Villalona I've never bought a NECA replica before, but have definitely heard good things. Looks like all I heard was true because this replica eve hypo is amazing. It looks just like the eve hypos from the game, and the blue light inside is definitely an awesome addition. The paint job on it really makes it look like rusted and scratched metal. The needle also separates from the body so just in case you need to put it in a bookbag or something, it won't break or snap off.
The only thing I don't like is that it is very light, but that is just me nitpicking.
Definitely a must have for all Bioshock fans and collectors!

I guess I wasn't sure what to expect. Jan 14, 2011
By SilentEvil I'm an avid gamer and game collector, but I'm very new to collecting game merchandise. When I saw this Eve Hypo replica, I HAD to have it on my bookcase (much like another reviewer).
There were several things I noted upon taking it out of the box. Like another reviewer remarked, it's much lighter than you would expect. I realize that it's made of plastic, but a little heft would have made it feel much better in your hand. Mine hasn't broken, but it feels disappointingly fragile. It does light up with the click of a button up top, and I have to say, lighting the thing up and setting it on my shelf put a big, goofy grin on my face.
The needle does detach by pulling straight off from the rest of the model. Even though that may be the case, I don't see this being a toy in any way but the loosest sense of the word. A child would have the thing in eight different pieces in a matter of seconds. Other reviewers mentioned the bulb burning out after a week of "normal use". Since I don't know what that means, I'll say that mine has survived beyond a week, but I only turn the light on every couple of days for a few seconds (because it's new and it still makes me chuckle). Having read those reviews, though, I do worry that I'll pick it up one day soon and it will fail to light.
So, final thoughts:
-It looks good on a bookshelf. -It's good for a laugh, and that's about all. -Anyone who would seriously consider buying this thing probably already knows the two things above. -The $15 price tag might easily be better spent on a used game. -It feels cheap and fragile.
But I have to say, while I'm not sure why, seeing it on my shelf does put a smile on my face.

Great replica, very cool Feb 17, 2010

I've been a Bioshock fan since the first game, so when I saw this EVE hypo replica, I had to have it. I thought they had originally only released in Europe and was disappointed, but when I saw it in the US, I snatched it up.
Honestly, this is one of the coolest video game toys I have. I have figures from various games, vehicles, but this life-sized EVE hypo is pretty slick.
The paint job and decals on it are well done and nicely aged, so it appears pretty authentic. When you push the plunger down on the end, it clicks a blue light on and off inside it can look like it's full of EVE or empty, pending on how you want it.
It is entirely plastic, which means a couple of things as far as durability. The "needle" on the end is something you'll want to be careful of or I could see it snapping off pretty easily. Also, there's a sort of "handle" thing along the left side (if you're looking at it from the front) that you really want to squeeze but if you do, it could snap off, too.
It's definitely not a kid's toy, but if you're a Bioshock fan or maybe have plans to be a Splicer for Halloween, this is a must-have.

Amazing Replica May 25, 2011
By BioFan I really enjoyed my purchase. Bioshock fans are sure to enjoy this product. Replica's are hard to come by for die hard fans but, this one places a mark right on the money.
